A residence on the B.O.A.T (Boat Of Artistic Research) in Saint-Nazaire (Loire- Atlantique, France) gave me the opportunity to explore an other way of riding water. The hydrofoil I built is a carrying structure held by two foils, for one person. Foils are submarine wings shapes which, with velocity, generate lift and allow to move between two waters. The moving length depends on pilot's ability to efficiently transfer his own energy to the machine. This hydrofoil is made from scrap deals by antagonism with the urban and industrial heritage of Saint-Nazaire, dominated by concrete, naval and aeronautic industries.
He studied design at European Superior Art School of Brittany (EESAB). Since, he lives and works in Coat-Meal, near Brest (Brittany, France). Breton coasts became an extension of his workshop, they are both inspiration, raw matter in which he can draw and experimentation territory. The governing principle of its research is very linked to its surfer's experience, which he uses to imagine and make new things, uses, means of production, ways of living, thus exploring contemporary issues. website : www.edgarflauw.com news : www.facebook.com/efdesignrecherches/

EESAB was founded on December 27, 2010. It brings together the higher art schools in Brest, Lorient, Quimper and Rennes. These four schools had previously been part of a single association for over twenty years. This association was formed to promote and develop the higher arts schools in Brittany and played a unifying role in promoting their activities and forming partnerships with other cultural establishments.
