The Prix HSBC pour la Photographie,
    Application deadline : November 10th

The Prix HSBC pour la Photographie, is now in its 22th year of accompanying young photographic creation.

An annual competition is open from September to November to any photographer who has never had their monograph published, with no age, nationality or theme criteria. Each year, an artistic advisor is nominated to give a fresh outlook and to preselect around ten candidates who are presented to the Executive Committee in order to select the two laureates.

The Prix HSBC pour la Photographie supports the two photographers by:

    · Publishing each artist’s first monograph in association with the publisher Actes Sud in the “Prix HSBC pour la Photographie Collection”.
    · Creating and organising the travelling exhibition of their works at five cultural venues in France and/or abroad.
    · Help in producing new works, presented during the fifth stage.
    · Guaranteeing the acquisition by HSBC France of a minimum of six works by each award winner for its photography fund.

The 22st contest of the Prix HSBC pour la Photographie is open from September 1st to 10th November 2016. Registrations will take place on the Prix HSBC competition website: www.hsbc.fr/prixhsbc

    EAUX TROUBLES, EAUX CALMES
    FROM JUNE 18TH TO SEPTEMBER 11TH, 2016
Fondation François Schneider 27 rue de la première armée 68700 Wattwiller

Eaux Troubles, Eaux Calmes is a photo and video exhibition, curated by François Hébel, and presented at the Fondation François Schneider from June 18th to September 11th, 2016.

Water is life’s basic component. Its impurity can be frightening; its absence instigates conflict; its abundance leads to generosity and joy. These contrasts are inherent to its nature. For the artist who, through photography or cinematography, is in search of poetry, water is a challenge, a difficult matter to handle. Once again, we deal in
contrasts: water, snow, fog, waterfall, wave, these aspects are visually too flat, too fluid, too plain, to be food for a visual artist, unless it is to make those visionless pictures of nature that are often lumped under the term “postcard”. See more www.fondationfrancoisschneider.org/events

    Mulhouse Biennial of Photography
    June 4th - September 4th

BPM (Mulhouse Biennial of Photography) is a cross-border festival (between France, Germany and Switzerland) that advocates contemporary photography, at a great and unifying event.

BPM presents international artists and new talent with a different theme for each edition. The theme of this edition is The Other and the Same. This is an opportunity to discover the 'other' through the exhibitions and installations of fifteen or so photographers. The association L'Agrandisseur supports BPM.

The second edition will take place from 4th June to 4th September 2016. During the opening weekend, the public can discover installations in situ, screenings and meet the invited photographers. From autumn 2015 two creative residency programs will enable photographers Pascal Amoyel(FR) and Vincent Delbrouck (BE) to produce personal work in advance.

The BPM allows young photographers to present their first solo exhibition. This is the case for Anna Meschiari (CH) focusing on the representation of UFOs in an exhibition at the Galerie de la Bibliothèque; and for Rebecca Topakian with her exhibition at the CCFF.
